Anastasia Rabiyah was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico -- Land of Enchantment -- on July 1, 1973. Her father worked for the US military and her mother worked in banking industry. She has one very talented brother who makes electronica music using computer programs. At the tender age of four, her family moved to Phoenix, Arizona where they lived with relatives until they purchased their own home months later. When Anastasia was nine, her family moved once more to Tucson, Arizona. There they lived in Air Force base housing and later moved to an apartment while waiting for the new family home to be built. A shy, introverted child, Anastasia was always full of far too much imagination for her own good. She began writing stories at the age of eleven. The world of Radaeh is a place she made up in her youth. She mapped out the continent where the city of Shan-Sei is located and also the surrounding cities. She enjoyed creating imaginary cultures and people. She still has the original crayon drawings of many of the characters from the Shahzar series. She found an outlet for her imagination in the Creative Writing course she attended in high school as well as the Arts and Crafts classes where she eventually was given Self Paced status. In college, she studied various fine arts; water color, life drawing, and illustration. She married in 1995. Working at a local credit union for nine years, she continued to draw, paint, and write stories in her spare time. She earned extra money painting children's murals in private homes and also volunteered to paint a massive Noah's Ark mural for the local Greek Orthodox Church where she was married. She began writing in 2001 after she stopped working at the credit union to stay home and raise her first son. Via a correspondence writing course, she became interested in writing children's stories, none of which were published. Discouraged, she decided to transform her young adult work-in-progress into something more suitable for adults -- a full length fantasy epic. In the process of writing this first piece -- to date still unpublished and incomplete -- she began writing the backstory for the main character's parents. This backstory became the four part Shahzar series which is available now in e- book and print formats. Although fantasy is her main genre of choice, she had always wanted to write erotic romance but felt intimidated by the strong language and graphic nature of the genre. After joining an online writer's critique group in 2007, she tested the waters of the erotic genre and found her niche'. She prefers to blend fantasy and erotic romance. She also writes futuristic and contemporary erotic romance. Anastasia resides in Tucson with her husband and three sons where she continues to write like a woman possessed. Her favorite saying is: "Follow your dreams!" |
